Refining the Thumbnail and Adding Variation
Rules of the Exercise
1Take one of the previous thumbnails created in the previous exercise (which if you haven't, complete that first).
2Do at least 3 refinements of that single thumbnail, each with different variations that are distinct to each design.
3Once finished, submit your exercise to be reviewed and looked over under the "Submissions" tab for grading!
Create at least 3 Refined versions of an initial thumbnail created for a robot concept piece.
Watch the lessons previously and I would recommend first completing the robot thumbnailing exercise first. You should then take one of those thumbnails for this exercise to refine and add variations to.
When you are at this stage of creating concept art, many artists feel this is redundant and boring. While it can get repetitive, I implore you to make it fun!
For a robot concept, think about the different manufactures that would build and piece this robot together. Some companies would have more smooth and curved surfaces while others prefer hard edges with angular finishes. So start thinking deeper than just the surface level and really start to add more backstory and character to this robot and his function!
