It's Mozu The Chosen! That's It!

This is an exercise submission on the exercise Melvin Lip Sync

Rules of the Exercise

Animation is with the Melvin Rig.
  • 2
Lip sync animation follows the relative method.
  • 3
Lip sync matches with the audio clip, giving the illusion that Melvin is talking.

This Exercise Submission has passed!

Exercises are a great way to test what you've learned given certain restraints, while getting feedback from your peers. Plus, they're a lot of fun!

Think I'm going to call this one good. I want to do the final exercise before I start iAnimate in January. Woot!

Nice! As I havent yet attended this course i cant say much but maybe when he says "to know" could be improved? Everything else looks good to me.

    Nice choice in audio Phil.

    It's going great so far.
    I love his default look.

Here’s some general things I see
-keep the narrow longer at f19 before going wide on "Things"
-Get the lips closed on the B’s and M’s and you will need to add some middle top lip movement to some of those as well.
-The V shape ("Have") is hard with his teeth like that, but get the lower mid lip up higher.
    - add some narrow to the "My" in My name so it isn't static.

Then in the polishing stage it's all about the spacing on those controls. When do they slow in/out and when do they start the move to the next shape.
If in doubt, try for smooth curves in the GE and see what that looks like. If they feel like they are always moving non-stop, think of it like a moving hold.
(I think you know what that means - if not let me know)

    Keep going Phil :)

    Nice work Phil.
I'm excited for you about iAnimate :)
I know you will love it.

As for the crits on this one, you have some nice acting choices for the body animation. It supports the lip sync well, but it is just a little stiff. Just a few more keyframes and some overshoots will sort that out.

And the lip sync is pretty good, the only bits that stick out to me is some of the spacing on the controls. Mainly the corners on "that's it" and the top lip (W shape) on "know" and "mozu". They just need a little smoothing into/out of and it will make it so much better.
But tackle this again after your first block. All that extra practice will make this a breeze ;)

    Go for it Phil.
