This Exercise Submission has passed!

Exercises are a great way to test what you've learned given certain restraints, while getting feedback from your peers. Plus, they're a lot of fun!

Well, here goes. Mouth shapes were obtained from "lipstick" analysis. Tongue is difficult with only rotation?

    Nice job so far Kevin.

Hopefully you understood the answer I gave to your question earlier today about the 'art' of transferring the important stuff from the reference onto the character.

I think you need to simplify the movements and try for the less is more approach. I say less lips and more jaw. Exaggerate the open shapes from your reference and try for a more appealing default smile at the start and end.

As for the tongue, you can use what ever you need to get the job done (translation, rotation and scale) but it looks like it is moving more than needed.

Looking forward to your next pass.
    Keep going TW.
