Rifle Texturing Study

This is an exercise submission on the exercise Texture a First Person Weapon

Rules of the Exercise

  • 1
    Include at least base color, metalness, glossiness or roughness, and normal maps.
  • 2
    Weapon must appear to be made of at least three different substances (rubber, metal, wood, etc...).
  • 3
    Textures must be well thought through and artifact-free. Anything that looks hastily thrown together shall not pass.

Exercises are a great way to test what you've learned given certain restraints, while getting feedback from your peers. Plus, they're a lot of fun!

Excellent tutorial! I created and applied the material to the rifle. The text looks cool but since the UV is mirrored, the text gets mirrored. but I still left it cause I like it.

    prashan Well received and I stand corrected! I waited a few moments longer this time and sure enough, all texture detail reached full clarity! Excellent!!

    forrest-harless are you sure you waited for all the textures to load? sometimes the 4K textures take a about a min to load completely. I guess I could go to 8K which would fix any type of fuzzyness but I think the point was to keep it a low poly game asset.

    Placement seems ok but the textures are fuzzy! Looks pretty good though!
