A moment of pure robotic bliss, captured for the CG Cookie 2018 Spring Sale.
Nice attention to detail, the edges of the textures, lighting reflexions, mise-en-scene... I wish to have more contrast in the foreground, a darker or even an slightly abstract object so it adds more vibrations to the story.
it reminds me - i've never finish animation course T.T
baukepost I'm not sure yet if I'll go, but if I do be sure to say hi!
jlampel Wow, that rainbow shader is amazing! And for the Bcon talk; I had already watched it :). It's refreshing to have some lighting info beyond just three point lighting for the sake of it. I might go to the conference this year, since I live close to Amsterdam, any chanche you'll give another presentation ;)?
Sure thing, you can see the rainbow setup here: https://twitter.com/JonLampel/status/986372280971218946
And for the lighting, I used an HDR from HDRI Haven and angled the sun off to the side, and then added 3 or so more subtle sun lamps to get a gradation across the bots. You can see me somewhat awkwardly explain my theory on lighting here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zokHSojQZIc
jlampel Awesome! I was wondering how you created the rainbow, is it an image or a real object in the scene? Also, how did you go about lighting the scene? I think the image really pops.
baukepost I would, but I'm not sure I can since not everything used is creative commons. But I'd be happy to answer any questions!
That's one awesome image! I know it might be a weird question and I don't know if you'd want to, but could you post the .blend file? I think people would be able to learn a lot from it! Ofcourse I'd understand if you don't want to, since it's your work.
I first saw it on the banner of Blendernation!
